A REMATCH between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano will take place in Texas this summer on the undercard of the controversial exhibition fight between former world champion Mike Tyson and social influencer and showbiz boxer Jake Paul.

Taylor confirmed on social media that Taylor v Serrano II has been scheduled for the AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Saturday, July 20.

The Bray fighter will be defending her status as the undisputed super-lightweight champion having won the belts in a rematch against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin last November.

Serrano has had a number of contests over 12 three-minute rounds but she has agreed to face Taylor in the traditional 10 two-minute rounds in Texas.

The pair topped the bill in a memorable showdown in Madison Square Garden in the spring of 2022 with Taylor securing a majority win, though Serrano has always maintained she should have got the verdict.

“This is the rematch the world has wanted to see and I’m delighted that it’s finally happening,” said Taylor.

“The first fight in New York was obviously an epic occasion and it more than lived up to the billing, and I’m sure the rematch will be no different.”

Meanwhile, an 11-strong Ireland team will contest the 2024 European Championships in Serbia. The team includes reigning lightweight champ Kellie Harrington and Belfast’s double Olympian Michaela Walsh (57kg) .
