Strong opposition to animal crematorium
April 2004
WICKLOW Against Incinerators have sent out the rallying call for people to show their objection to the planned animal crematorium in Redcross by protesting outside the county buildings on Monday.
The contentious development would see an existing milking parlour on a privately owned farmyard being converted into an incinerator that would dispose of the remains of dead pets supplied by vets from 22
all over Ire- counties land.
The group are particularly concerned that the burning of the remains might lead to carcinogens and other harmful emissions being released into the local environment.
The planned protest will start outside County Buildings at 1:30p.m. on Monday and continue on for the remainder of the afternoon.
The demonstration also coincides with Wicklow County Council’s April meeting which starts at 2.30 p.m.
