Catherine Kennedy
BRAY
AS THE only female Independent Candidate in this local election I bring over 20 years’ experience of campaigning on many social issues from International, national and local level to voters. I contested the General Election on behalf of the SWP in 2002. In 2009 I was the female candidate for Sinn Fein in Bray.
My campaigning on many issues such as Fire Safety, Suicide Prevention, Women’s Rights, Housing and Poverty underwrote my desire to find real solutions to these social problems. Following on from the campaigns in Bray against the privatizing of our Refuse Services and the Campaign for a Fulltime Fire Service and safer homes for the people of Old Court, I applied to Trinity College to study Sociology and Social Policy and I graduated in 2009 with a B.A.(mod).
We have all witnessed the demise of our once vibrant town. Attracting Business into Bray and putting Bray back In Business is the solution to reversing that trend. The council need more than grand designs to inspire investment; reduced rates, encouragement of pop-up shops to display our thriving arts/ cultural sectors would be a start.
I oppose water charges and property taxes on family homes. The lack of social Housing tells its own tale of broken dreams that see families torn apart as houses lie boarded up. I have a passion for justice and accountability and in Bray and Wicklow there is a need for a clean sweep-out in politics. Vote Hannon Kennedy Catherine No 1.
