Intriguing clashes ahead

-

THE SEMI-FINALS for Co. Wicklow’s cup competitions were made on Monday evening. An all-Premier Division Wicklow Cup final still looks to be the likely outcome unless Rathnew AFC C or Glencormac United can upset the odds again.

In the Jim McLaughlin Premier Cup, Rathnew AFC A and Arklow Town will know that victory in their semi-final encounter will see them installed as heavy favourites against either Ashford Rovers or Arklow United A.

The Division 2 Cup has handed favourites Rathnew AFC B a tricky trip to Kilmac to take on Glencormac United, while Celtic Stars have a home clash with Newtown United B to overcome.

Conary United and FC Laragh are the two stronger teams in the Thomas Scott Cup but they have both been drawn away from home in their last four ties against Arklow Celtic B and Arklow United B respectively.

In the Charlie Byrne Cup, all eyes will be on the meeting of Fassaroe YC and Rathnew AFC C while Shamrock Celtic and Wicklow Town will also be hoping to prove a few points as they lock horns in the other semi.
