Newsome hat-trick helps secure title
Avondale CC see off gallant Arklow CBS
AVONDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE 3-13 ARKLOW CBS 3-07
THE BOYS senior football B final was played in Pearse Park on Tuesday evening and resulted in a win for Avondale Community College over Arklow CBS in a competitive game. The Arklow school led by 1-4 to 0-5 after 20 minutes. However, two Dean Newsome goals for Avondale before half time put his team in front and at half time they led by 2-7 to 1-4.
Arklow battled well in the second half with corner forward Cormac Breslin always threatening danger.
There was a great contest at midfield between Sean McGraynor of Avondale and Sean Hurley of CBS with honours ending up even.
The Arklow school narrowed the gap a few times but Avondale's experience was crucial in the end.
Others to impress for the winners were the O Hannain brothers Cian and Fiachra, Liam Kinsel- la and Dean Newsome. Daire McBride and Tiernan Mellon gave good support to Breslin and Hurley for the Arklow school
