Admitted careless driving

-

BRAY MAN Sidney Moorehouse entered a plea in court last week to a charge of careless driving rather than fight an accusation of dangerous driving.

This was his third incident of careless driving and he was disqualified for nine months.

Moorehouse (29), of 7A Oldcourt Park, was before Bray District Court last Thursday.

The incident occurred on December 5 when Garda David Shore saw Moorehouse driving a van on Killarney road. He turned to follow the vehicle and signalled for him to stop. He accelerated on Soldier’s Road, approached a roundabout and took the exit on the right hand side.

The rear of the truck slightly slid to the left. This all happened at 10.30 a.m.

As the road widened, Garda Shore attempted to drive alongside him. ‘ He swung in front of me and I had to apply the brakes,’ he said.

‘Against my better judgement I’ll accept the plea to careless driving,’ said Judge David Kennedy. ‘He should have pulled in sooner and accepts that although he wouldn’t necessarily agree with all the facts,’ said solicitor Conway O’Hara. ‘He apologises to garda for his behaviour.’

Moorehouse was also fined €750.
