Woman stole groceries from store

-

A BRAY woman who left a shop without paying for groceries has been given one more chance to avoid prison.

Lisa McGrath (43) was in Bray District Court last Thursday for theft at Dunnes on Quinsborough Road on February 4.

McGrath is a mother of five, however one of her children died, and the tragedy had a serious impact on her, the court heard.

‘She has been struggling in terms of her own well being and apologises for her behaviour,’ said solicitor Conway O’Hara. ‘She realises she should know a lot better,’ adding that she has a great fear of going in to custody.

‘This is her fourth conviction for larceny,’ said Judge David Kennedy. He imposed a sentence of three months suspended as well as a €300 fine.

‘If she’s back before me again for something similar there will be a custodial sentence,’ said the Judge, warning the defendant that this is her final chance.
