Serial offender is jailed

AND ALSO DUE BACK IN COURT AGAIN ON OTHER CHARGES

-

A BRAY man accused of holding up a post office had other matters dealt with in court last week.

Daniel Nangle (22), of 72 Oldcourt Drive, pleaded guilty to a number of charges including selling tablets on Bray Main Street on April 15; having possession of a knife at Fassaroe on October 8; having €20 of MDMA at Strand Road on June 2; having a knife at Schools Road on August 30 2013; and handling stolen property at Diamond Bowl in Wicklow on November 8 2013.

The charge of attempted robbery in Enniskerry from April 11 will be back before Bray District Court on May 19 as the DPP may bring further charges.

Nangle said that he wanted to deal with all matters as soon as possible.

His solicitor advised him it would be in his interest to have sentencing for all matters together however he said he wanted to get them out of the way.

He was fined €350 for failure to appear on a previous occasion.

‘ The court is familiar with Mr. Nangle,’ said solicitor Conway O’Hara.

‘He has been in and out of care. He has one child.

‘He has found it very difficult to keep on the straight and narrow. It’s a sad reflection of his state of mind that he’s anxious to go into custody to stabilise. He knows he is his own worst enemy.’

Nangle received 12-month and nine-month concurrent sentences, as well as four sixmonth concurrent sentences, a three month concurrent and one six-month consecutive sentence as well as 12 months with the final six suspended.
