Kennedy gifts new gear to All Stars

ELECTION CANDIDATE Pat Kennedy endeared himself to a number of people in Rathdrum as he provided new gear to the Avondale All Stars Special Olympics Club.

The kit was handed over at the RDA Hall in Rathdrum after Pat agreed to sponsor the athletes’ uniforms provided by local supplier Ronnie Phillips of BC Sports in Ashford. Vikings Special Olympics Club also attended the presentation and both clubs participated in some friendly games of Bocce followed by light refreshments afterwards.

Avondale All Stars Special Olympics Club was established in Rathdrum in 2011.

At the moment the club mainly plays Bocce but it is hoped to introduce further sports as the club grows.

At the moment the club is looking for new volunteers and athletes. Training takes place in the RDA Hall each Thursday night between 6.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.. Anyone interested in getting involved can contact avondaleallstarssoc@gmail.com or phone (086) 6073700.
