Byrne says spelling error was deliberate

-

BALTINGLASS AREA candidate Kevin Byrne has the word ‘ Independant’ rather than ‘ Independent’ on his business cards – but says the spelling mistake was a deliberate ploy.

The Knockananna man circulated his new cards this week and says spelling the word with an ‘a’ towards the end, rather than an ‘e’, was a ‘subliminal message’.

‘It’s not a mistake. I did it to show how it feels being an Independent - like an ass having to climb over a pile of politicians to get elected,’ he says.

Byrne explains that he was waiting for people to pick up on the error, which only features on his business cards and not his posters.

‘It’s only on the cards in the local community. I started giving them out in the past week. I always said small people have small minds and that’s why all the politicians just fight amongst each other.’

Byrne says his approach is working well and that it has done the job in getting him noticed. ‘ There’s no such thing as bad publicity. I’d say I’m going to win. I’ll have no bother, from what I’m hearing out and about. You can ask Paddy Power and see!’
