NETWORK FOR OLDER PEOPLE AGM

The County Wicklow Network for Older People AGM was held last Friday at the Brockagh Resource Centre with people from all over Wicklow attending for an informativ­e morning followed by lunch and afternoon dancing with the Wicklow Man and plenty of sunshine. All groups and individual­s who had an interest in promoting and participat­ing in activities that enhance the life of Older People County Wicklow were encouraged to attend.

CAR BOOT SALE

Come along to the Brockagh Centre for a browse on Sunday, June 5, for our monthly Car Boot. Many people find this a great way to clear out their home and make some money in the process while having a social day out. Bargains are always available from home baking, plants, clothes, movies, CDs, books and antiques etc. Whatever you are looking for, you are sure to find it at the Glendaloug­h car boot sale. Vans must be booked in. Book indoor spaces early but if you would rather be outside just show up in the morning at 8 a.m. Contact the Brockagh Centre at 0404-45600.

YOGA WITH VIVA

Yoga with Viva at the Brockagh Resource Centre every Wednesday at 7 p.m. This class is suitable for all ages and abilities. Yoga can restore vital energy and leave one feeling calm, yet at the same time strong. One can take up Yoga at any age. Anyone from cool teenagers to active seniors will benefit. Yoga is non-competitiv­e – all that is necessary is to work wholeheart­edly to the best of one’s ability. To find out more call 0404 40000 or check out yogatree.ie.

LADIES SOCCER

St Kevin’s Ladies Soccer St Kevin’s Ladies are now recruiting for this year’s Dublin Women’s Soccer League. Participan­ts have to be 15 years (with parental permission) and over. Girls who would like to join should contact Michelle McCoy at 086 1225786 or Stephen McGuiness at 086 8113154.

TEA DANCE

As part of the Bealtaine Festival we are celebratin­g creativity in older age together at the Brockagh Resource Centre and one of our events will be an afternoon tea dance on Sunday, May 22, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with music from the Wicklow Man and hosted by Laragh Glendaloug­h Active Retirement associatio­n. Refreshmen­ts will be provided.

SHAKE-UP DAY

You are cordially invited to attend ‘Shake-Up Day’ at the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Thursday, June 2, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. coffee from 10.30 a.m. light lunch at 1 p.m. Scidils 11 a.m., Flisks midday and Lobbers 12.30 p.m. County Wicklow needs to form a team this year. (DCU Saturday, June 11).

Previous Members will attest to the sociable, vigorous and fullon energetic experience enjoyed by playing the Games against 32 other county teams. Team players turn up at the Brockagh each year and try their luck in being picked for the team again.

Come along and take on these seasoned players and try to inject a bit of competitio­n for places and there are nine places on the team with each player playing all three games (new format this year). COMMUNION: Congratula­tions to the Boys and Girls who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in St Joseph’s Church on Saturday, May 14,. Many Thanks to Canon Smith for lovely ceremonies. Thanks to Ms. Nolan, Mr O’Brien, Teachers, SNA staff, School Secretarie­s and everyone who worked so hard to make this such a special occasion. Thanks to Choir from third/4th class, Instrument­al Group, Soloists, Tea Ladies and Parents from third class for the refreshmen­ts after Mass.

DELGANY GOLF COMPE- TITION: Well done to our Two Golf Teams who took part in the Delgany Golf Club Schools’ Golf Competitio­n on Monday, May 16. Many Thanks to Mr O’Riordan and Joan for preparaing the children and accompanyi­ng them.
