TRAGIC BIKE CRASH
A MAN DIED in Greystones on Thursday evening when he lost control of a motorbike and crashed at a roundabout.
Roman Valesek (38) of Caledon Road, East Wall, Dublin, was driving the bike at Farrankelly Road. The Polish man had been living in Dublin.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains removed to Loughlinstown Hospital.
Gardaí and paramedics attended the scene of the accident as well as investigators who will prepare a report.
It is understood that the driver of the motorbike was not travelling at an excessive speed when he lost control of the vehicle.
The road remained closed until after 10 p.m.
A traffic investigator arrived on the scene at 8.30 p.m. An inquest will follow at some point in the future.
It is believed that Mr Valasek hit the centre island and a road sign.
Passers-by including an off-duty nurse, paramedic and garda stopped to help. They administered first aid while awaiting the ambulance service.
An off-duty nurse, paramedic and garda battled to no avail to save the life of a motorbike crash victim on Farrankelly Road last Thursday evening.
The accident occurred at approximately 6.30 p.m. last Thursday as the bike drove on to the roundabout.
The deceased man has been identified as Roman Valasek (38), a Polish native who was living on Caledon Road, East Wall, in Dublin.
There were a number of witnesses to the fatal crash. It is understood that the Mr Valasek was not travelling at an excessive speed when he lost control of the vehicle.
He was pronounced dead at the scene at 7.44 p.m. and the road remained closed until after 10 p.m. A fatal traffic investigator arrived on the scene at 8.30 p.m., with a report to follow on foot of that investigation of the scene.
