WICKLOW ENTRIES IN THE FINAL

SIX pupils from primary schools in Wicklow have made it through to the finals of this year’s Doodle 4 Google competitio­n.

The lucky winner will win a €10,000 IT fund for their school as well as a €5000 scholarshi­p and have their doodle displayed on the Google home page for 24 hours.

Voting opened yesterday, February 7 and will remain open until February 21. Two pupils at St Kevin’s NS, Laragh, Glendaloug­h, have progressed to the finals.

Ciara Finn created a teddy bear making machine doodle and a garden for mice to play with a rocket. Taran Scott, also from Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa created a doodle of a machine that could wash, brush, blowdry and snip his pet labradoodl­e’s fur. Olivia Ladouari, Glebe National School drew a doodle of Happy Lion while her fellow Glebe NS pupil Evan Fitzpatric­k’s doodle reflected his dream to travel in space.

Kevin Whelan from Scoil Náisiunta Phádraig Naofa, Avoca drew a robot-themed design while Roisin Furlong from Greystones Educate Together drew a doodle of how the world could be made better by curing disease and stopping climate change.
