Ports complex may go ahead

February 1994

-

CONFIDENCE is growing in Wicklow that foundations costing £30,000 which were laid several years ago for the building of a ports complex and swimming pool in the town may not go to waste after all.

Local authority figures are hopeful that a private investor will take advantage of the benefits contained in the Urban Renewal Scheme and continue where the Urban Council finished from at the site in Whitegates. However, hopes that monies from the National Lottery or other government bodies being made available now appear to be fading fast, meaning private investment will be required to provide the complex.
