Lenten Talks Series: Join us on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. in March and April for a series of Lenten Talks in partnershi­p with the Church of Ireland Theologica­l Institute (CITI). Tuesday, March 14: ‘The Way of the Cross in the Gospel of Mark’ – Rev Canon Dr Maurice Elliott, Principal, CITI; Tuesday, March 28,: ‘The Way of the Cross, developing a discipline­d life’ – Rev. Dr Patrick McGlinchey, Lecturer in Missiology, CITI; Tuesday, April 4,: ‘The Way of the Cross, ‘Foolishnes­s’ to Shame the ‘Wisdom’ of the World’ (1 Cor 1; 12-31). Dr Katie Heffelfing­er, Lecturer in Biblical Studies CITI.

Mothers Union: The February meeting speaker was Jonathan Stanley, whose talk about his recent trip to Zambia gave us a great insight into life in an African state which although rich in minerals is struggling to find its way to support all the people. Truly Jonathan’s trip showed us Faith in Action. Our next meeting will be next Monday night at 8 p.m. in the Parish Life Centre – do come.

Easter Vestry: This year’s Easter Vestry takes place on Tuesday, April 25,. The minutes of last year’s Easter Vestry are available at the back of the church

Bell Ring for Justice and Fairness Sunday, March 19: There will be a 20 minute bell ring prior to the 11 a.m. service. The renovated ‘Joy Bells’ of Waterford Cathedral are being launched on this day by Dr Mary McAleese and we will ring our bells in solidarity with Christ Church Waterford and to support calls for justice and fairness in today’s world.

HOLY REDEEMER PARISH

Holy Redeemer Youth Centre: We would like to invite all secondary school students to join us in the Holy Redeemer Youth Centre on any Wednesday (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.); Friday Night (6 p.m. to 9 p.m.) or Saturday (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). A great atmosphere to make new friends in a lovely environmen­t with loads of fun filled activities, movies and pool.

The Coffee Dock: Is open each morning Monday to Friday after 10 a.m. Mass and on Sundays after the 10.30 a.m. Mass. Tea, coffee, biscuits and occasional­ly cake is served. The Coffee Dock also offers a great source of community and friendship for people within the parish and outside the parish. We would like to extend a warm welcome to all. Come in for a chat and a cuppa and perhaps make new acquaintan­ces while you are there.

Volunteers are needed to help in the Coffee Dock Monday to Friday mornings. The commitment is from 9.30 a.m. to approximat­ely 11.30 a.m. One morning every second week. Please phone Philippa at 087 1442969 if you think you can help.

Lenten Activities: A Mini Retreat began last Monday and continues to this Friday at the 7 p.m. Mass; Gospel Reflection groups. Mondays of Lent after 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mass; Life in the Spirit Seminars starting on Wednesday, March 8, and each Wednesday following; Are you in touch with your Faith? A discussion group which will look at some of Fr John’s Homilies, which started last Thursday continues on the Thursdays of Lent in the Youth Centre 7.30 p.m.

Lourdes Pilgrimage – September 7 to September 12: The parish will once again join the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes in September. The fully inclusive price is €725pps. QOP YOUTH CLUB

Queen of Peace Adventure Youth Club is compiling a booklet to celebrate 50 years of serving the young people in the community. About five hundred people have been involved through the years. DIVING CLUB

Wicklow Aquanauts (Bray Divers) are currently training people to scuba dive and snorkel. As soon as their new club premises are completed they expect to give the chance of free introducti­on to snorkellin­g to all kinds of groups in the County Wicklow community. It is hoped that various organisati­ons will avail of this opportunit­y.

CUALANN SOCIETY

The March meeting of the Bray Cualann Historical Society, the local history society for Bray and North Wicklow takes place in the Royal Hotel, Bray, on Thursday, March 16, at which Dr Charles Hannon will present his lecture on ‘Roger Casement and 1916.’ All welcome to attend. annual Membership of the Bray Cualann Historical Society is €15 and covers two Adults+2 Children, and can be taken out at any meeting of the society. Admission to lectures is €5 visitors – members free.
