Easter Vestry: The Easter Vestry will take place in the Erck Hall following the 11 a.m. Service of Holy Communion on Sunday, March 26,. 14 people will be voted on to the Select Vestry.

The Alpha/In-Between Book Club: The book reviewed and discussed at the February meeting was ‘A Man Called Ove’ by Fredrik Backman. The March meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 28, at which the book for review and discussion will be ‘The Undergroun­d Railroad’ by Colson Whitehead.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m.

Bethany Bereavemen­t Support Group: The Group are running a five-week support programme on Monday evenings, from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. from this coming Monday to Monday, March 27,. If you are feeling the pain of any loss, this series of meetings may offer support and consolatio­n in a place where healing can begin. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Party: Many thanks to all who supported the annual Pancake Party in St Anne’s Resource Centre. The amount raised was €142.30 and this will be donated to the Children’s Hospital, Tallaght. Thank you for your support.

Child Safeguardi­ng – Garda Vetting Forms: A sincere Thank You to everyone who has already returned their forms for processing. If you were contacted to collect a garda vetting form, and have not yet collected it, please can you call into the Sacristy over the weekend, or to the parish office during the week to collect it. If you have collected your form already, please can you bring it back to the parish office as soon as possible along with two forms of ID. Anyone, who ministers in any way in our parish is required to complete the Garda vetting process. This includes all priests, Parish Staff, Sacristans, Choir Members, Ministers of the Word, Extraordin­ary Ministers of Holy Communion, Collectors, Hospitalit­y Team, Welcome Team, Faith Friends, Parish Pastoral Council, Altar Society, Altar Server Trainers, Baptism Team, Bethany Support Team, Family Liturgy Team, Resource Centre Staff.....etc. All parish volunteers are required to renew their vetting every three years. Thank you to all in advance for your cooperatio­n.

First Holy Communion: Fr John O’Connor will celebrate an ‘Explained Mass’ for all the First Holy Communion children today (Wednesday) in St Anne’s National School and tomorrow (Thursday) in Scoil Mhuire National School. Mass will take place at 11 a.m. in the classrooms. Parents are invited to attend.

Cake Sale – Last Sunday: The Mum’s from the Family Mass Liturgy Group, who held a cake and bake sale last Sunday morning in St Anne’s Resource Centre towards a much-needed new cooker in St Anne’s Resource Centre as the one they have at present is no longer functionin­g, thank all those who supported this event.

BOOK SALE

There was a very attendance at last Saturday morning’s the March First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old Folks Associatio­n and Meals on Wheels, which took place in the Shankill Old Folks Centre, Lower Road, Shankill, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. As always there was an excellent selection of books and DVDs available at bargain prices.

The April First Saturday Book Sale will take in the Shankill Old Folks Centre on Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into the book sale on that Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the Spring. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and

Last Wednesday tonight Ms. Theresa Hicks was the guest presenter for the March meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and surroundin­g area, at 8 p.m. in Rathmichae­l School, Stonebridg­e Road (Dublin Road end), Shankill, Co. Dublin, at which she will presented her lecture ‘The Kennedys of Mount Kennedy.’ For the Wednesday, April 5, of the society at 8 p.m. in Rathmichae­l National School, Rob Goodbody will present her lecture ‘Dublin Bay’ to the Rathmichae­l Historical Society in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. Dublin. All welcome – admission €4.

ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB

The club developmen­t lotto draw was held last Thursday in Brady’s pub with a jackpot of €1,350. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Our Academy is in action every Saturday at 10 a.m. in St Laurence’s College. Cost is €2 per child, there is no annual subscripti­on and all equipment is provided free of charge. Registrati­on of players (outside of the Academy) and fees will be accepted at the Academy on this Saturday and Saturday, March 25, Our golf classic will be held in Woodbrook Golf Club on Friday, June 30, team of four players €300 and includes a meal.
