Planning section to examine Raheenleagh Wind Farm

-

PLANNING staff working for Wicklow County Council will provide an update on the Raheenleagh Wind Farm at the monthly meeting due to take place in April.

Last week south Wicklow residents living near to the wind farm made a presentation to councillors outlining the negative impact the wind farm has had on their lives since it began operations in September, 2016.

Cllr Joe Behan sought a suspension of standing orders at this week’s special council meeting to further discuss the issues raised.

‘I was hoping at the very least that the council would have moved to close down viewing points at turbine one and five. Further action may be required over the connection to the grid and other aspects of the planning which may not be what they should be.’

Cllr Shay Cullen has been liaising with residents living near to the wind farm and he said it was his understanding that ‘ this was to go on the agenda for April’s meeting to give planning staff time to provide an update.’

County Council Cathaoirleach, Cllr Pat Fitzgerald, confirmed that Raheenleagh Wind Farm would indeed be on the agenda for April’s meeting.
