St Kilian’s students go to Sky Sports ‘Living for Sport’ day
STUDENTS from St Kilian’s Community School attended the Sky Sports ‘Living for Sport’ Academy Day recently at the new National Sports Campus in Blanchardstown.
The event was part of the schedule for the opening week of the facility.
The 19 students representing St Kilian’s were chosen for their sporting prowess and achievement, not only at club and school level but, in many cases, on the national and internations stage.
On the day, students took part in a wide range of activities where they were mentored and coached by a host of sporting stars, including Aife McDermott (basketball), Jessie Barr (athletics), Jenny Murphy (rugby), Brian Gregan (athletics), and Darren O’Neill (boxing).
GAA sports were represented by household names such as Christy Toye (Donegal), Shane McGrath (Tipperary), Darran O’Sullivan (Kerry) and Anna Geary (Cork).
The Sky Sports Ambassador for the day was Ireland and Leinster rugby legend, Gordon D’Arcy, assisted by British sprinting great, Darren Campbell.
Activities included athletics, basketball, rugby, camogie, Taekwondo, Gaelic football, hurling and boxing.
