ter and fought back to level when Liam Burke notched his twelfth of the campaign.

The 12Bs maintained their 100 per cent record in the league with an exciting 3-2 away win over Avonmore. Goals from Charlie Phelan and a seventh of the season from Ryan McConnell put them 2-0 up at the break.

Avonmore stormed back in the second half to level matters, but the lads showed their fighting spirit to hit back when Charlie Phelan claimed his tenth of the season to earn all three points.

Our 13As earned all three points in a tough encounter away to Aughrim Rangers. Jordan Younger scored his 14th of the season with Tom Hodgkinson firing in his eighth of the campaign to ensure the lads keep ahead of the chasing pack.

The under-13Bs went down 6-1 away to Glencormac, Oran Dempsey fired home his fifth goal of the season.

Well, it was a long time coming but at long last our under-14Cs got their deserved rewards for their sterling efforts over the season. The Cs earned an excellent point when they held the B team to a 1-1 draw.

Both the B and C team are competing in the premier grade. Kevin Leonard scored his first of the season for the Cs with Evan Dwyer notching his second of the campaign for the Bs.

Our 15As recorded a fantastic 1-0 win over Aughrim Rangers, every single Rovers player gave a 100 per cent in achieving this result. Frankie Reynolds was the goal hero when he claimed his second of the season.

The 16Bs were unlucky when they went down 2-1 away to Greystones Utd, they at least should have gained a point as they had two efforts cleared off the line and also struck the woodwork. Nathan Sullivan scored their goal in what was a good all round team performance.

The club are running an Easter Camp from Tuesday, April 18, to Friday, April 21.

AVONMORE FC

Avonmore under-11s Green v Wicklow Rovers: Avonmore FC under-1’s welcomed Wicklow Rovers to Tullylusk on a bright, windy day last weekend.

Two very evenly matched teams went at it in an end to end game that covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Wicklow played with the wind in the first half but neither team produced many chances in the final third to trouble the defences. The first half ended nil all.

The second half the wind dipped a bit and the game opened up. In defence, we played excellent and our forwards created a few good chances but we were denied by excellent saves from the Wicklow goalie.

Joseph pulled off some great saves of his own but with two minutes left in the game, Wicklow, against the run of play, launched a final attack and a high ball that looped over an out stretched Joseph hit the far post and rolled in for the only goal of the game.

Well done to both teams who have it their all and provided us parents with loads to cheer about... great game lads.

Avonmore under-11s Yellow v Enniskerry: It was probably the tightest match of the season for our under-11’s Yellow this morning as they took on Enniskerry in Tullylusk.

Having lost to this team earlier on in the season we knew that we couldn’t let that happen on our home ground. From the first whistle it was plain to see that there was nothing to divide these teams. It was end to end football with great passages of play from both sides.

Enniskerry’s goalkeeper was tested again and again but he bravely saved everything that was thrown at him. Going into the break, the score line was nil all.

A couple of minutes into the second half the ball fell nicely to Mark O’Reilly who struck it perfectly and landed sweetly into the back of the net.

The next 20 minutes were nail-biting as Enniskerry piled on the pressure. With two minutes to go, Calem, in goal, found himself one on one with Enniskerry’s striker. He spread himself beautifully to deny Enniskerry their equaliser.

The final whistle couldn’t come soon enough. A well deserved win today lads, thanks to Enniskerry for a great game.

Cian Keogh continues to impress with another strong performance in the A3/Junior race finishing ninth overall and second junior home on the day.

Well done to both lads.

The weather was still rearing its ugly head last week and Saturday’s games involving the under-10s and under-11s both fell victim to the weather. The games involving the 8s and 9s went ahead in sunshine though cold.

The under-8s travelled to Arklow Town and played an excellent game against strong opposition. Among the players who scored were Albie Chance, David McCormack, Aaron Nolan, Lucas Dowdall, Leighton Byrne and Oisin Duffy.

The under-9s hosted a strong Wicklow Rovers team and among the players who scored were Aidan Heffernan, Liam Kinlan, Cathal O’Toole and Dylan Dunleavy.

Among the players who starred were Sebastian Anton, Conor Thornton, Frank Lang and Mikey Synnott.

The under-15s returned to scene of their cup victory last weekend but this time they wee in league action against Greystones ‘B’. It may have been a different competition but the result was the same as our lads came home with all three points.

Ryan Smillie helped himself to a hat-trick, Steven Coughlan scored twice including a penalty, while Luke Kelly and Andrew McMahon added the other goals. Well done everyone.

With a bit of a stretch in the evening now, all of our teams will be going outside for their training. The coaches will notify all players.

Our latest Last Man Standing competition will be going into Week 2 this coming weekend. In Week 1 we lost 45 players so 48 players remain in contention for the €465 prize pot. Week 2 fixtures have already been distributed among the remaining players and we await their selections with baited breath. Many thanks to everyone for their support.

On a sadder note we extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Joey Doyle (Mountainview Drive) who sadly passed away last week. May he rest in peace.
