FAI ‘Soccer sisters’ camps

-

THE FAI has announced that three of its ‘Soccer Sisters’ camps will take place in Wicklow during the Easter holidays.

Girls aged between seven and 12 years are being invited to sign up to one of the camps, which will be hosted by Aughrim Rangers FC, Greystones United FC and Coolboy Rangers. The camps will run for two full days during the Easter school break and are open to girls of all abilities.

Each participant will receive a full Aviva Soccer Sister kit, including a limited edition jersey, a ‘Play Like a Soccer Sister’ wristband and a football. At the end of the camp, each girl will be presented with an official FAI Aviva Soccer Sisters completion certificate signed by Republic of Ireland Women’s National Team player Aine O’Gorman and Sue Ronan, FAI’s Head of Women’s Football.

So far, €1,500 has been raised with more donations still to be collected, and a whopping six stone of weight loss was achieved.

Wicklow Hospice extends a sincere thanks to Aldi and Lidl in Arklow who sponsored a healthy food starter pack for each participant and to the mentors Ann Marie Kenny, Aisling Kirwan and Hannah Nolan. Fitness expert Hannah paid tribute to the participants and said that the group has made fantastic changes.

‘ The WHOT participants saw fantastic changes over the course of the eight weeks. Almost six stone of weight loss between the group members who weighed in, with one participant losing almost two stone and another shedding 10lbs. On average half a stone per participant lost which is a fantastic success. Not only that but we also saw a reduction in body fat by an average of five per cent and even more impressive participants also saw an average muscle gain of 4lbs with massive inch loss which is testament to the hard work and improvements in exercise routines. Other areas such as hydration and internal visceral fat were also drastically reduced,’ Hannah said.
