Water supply gone after burst pipe

-

A burst water pipe on Vevay Road cut water off for residents and businesses in Bray on Monday evening.

The areas affected were from the Putland Road/Vevay Road junction, north as far as Little Bray, and east to the seafront and harbour areas.

There was a stop-go system at Vevay Road to facilitate works to the pipe. Water supply in those areas stopped at around 3 p.m. and had returned by 7 p.m.

While initially it was estimated that there would be no water until midnight, works were completed ahead of schedule.

Members of the repair team for Irish Water who were on-site told a local resident that the leak was just two feet away from the incident of Sunday, March 5.

On that occasion, pipes burst at Vevay Road and Bentley Park, leaving hundreds of residents and businesses with no water, and water spilling out onto roads.

Businesses were forced to stop serving coffee and other refreshments. Irish water worked on the problem from 8 a.m. on that Sunday, with water back by the evening.

Previously, two weeks earlier again, a burst pipe at Seacrest shut the water down at Seacrest, Loreto Grange and Sidmonton Gardens.
