his second of the game and what proved to be the winner when he lobbed the onrushing keeper. The Rovers defence remained rock solid to shut out the opposition to secure three points against last season’s Major 2 champions. Adam Cuddihy stood out for Rovers on the day.

In midweek action our under-12As recorded an excellent 3-2 home win over local rivals Rathnew under lights at the Whitegates. In an exciting local derby the lads secured three important points with Sam Greene, Kai Fitzsimons and Oscar Malcolmson hitting their goals.

Saturday’s action saw our 11As record an excellent 2-0 away win over St Anthonys to put them in the semi-final of the Under-12 Premier Cup. Brian McCaul gave them the lead with top scorer Charlie Czwalina scoring the insurance goal just before the break in what was a fantastic all round team performance.

The under-12As stormed into the semi-final of the Premier Cup also when they fired eight goals past Carnew without reply. Louis Malcolmson led the way with a fantastic hat-trick, Kai Fitzsimons and Jack Noble nabbed a brace a piece with Nicholas McAllister completing the eight-goal haul in a clinical display from the team.

Our under-14Bs are going through a bad patch at the moment, this time they went down 4-0 away to Roundwood. The lads are just not firing on all cylinders of late and are not reaching the standards they have set for themselves.

With a Premier Shield final approaching in the coming weeks the lads will be hoping to return to their early season form. Our under-15Bs made their exit from the Division 1 Cup when they went down 5-0 to a strong Wolfe Tone side. The lads never really got going in this game.

Sunday’s action saw the under-13As keep their assault on all fronts maintained when they saw off Wolfe Tone on a 2-1 score line. Willoughby Woods and Jordan Younger netted for the lads as they kept their treble dreams alive.

The under-13Bs were involved in a seven-goal thriller away to Ashford Rovers losing 4-3, Zach Harris, Oran Dempsey and Tim Farrelly hit the lads goals in what was a great advert for football.

Our under-15As and 16Bs come into direct opposition in the Under-15/16 Challenge Cup. After a tight encounter the 15As ran out 2-1 winners. Tom O’Shea and Chris Mabuza scored the 15As goals with Nacho Garcia hitting the net for the 16Bs in what was an evenly contested inter club derby.

Our Last Man Standing competition moves on to round 5 which will take place on the weekend of Saturday, April 1. There is no LMS competition next weekend due to the international break. Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Southampton means 4 more players progress, Man Utd defeated Middlesbrough to send three players through with Crystal Palace and Leicester providing two and one players respectively with a safe spot in round five.

Of the players that exited the competition, four went out after Arsenal lost 3-1 to West Brom and one player made his exit after Sunderland could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to Burnley.
