The man is believed to have been aged in his 40s but that is not certain at this time.
GARDAI are trying to identify a man whose remains were found washed up on Bray beach last Monday morning.
A member of public alerted gardai to the man lying on the northern end of the beach before the harbour wall.
Gardai attended the scene and arranged for the deceased man to be removed by undertakers to Loughlinstown Hospital.
He had a rucksack with him, but was not carrying any identification.
A post mortem examination and further enquiries were being carried out yesterday from Loughlinstown.
Superintendent Pat Ward said that gardai received a report that the gentleman had been washed up on the beach close to the harbour.
He was fully clothed. Gardai were not in a position to look at him closely as his face was towards the ground and he was covered in a lot of sand.
Supt Ward said that in the investigation, gardai will try to find out a bit more about him. They will properly search his clothing and napsack.
He said that on initial investigation, the description does not appear to fit that of anyone reported missing in the area at the moment.
He said that while his age is estimated to be approximately in his 40s, due to signs of some grey hair around the man’s temple, this has not been confirmed as of yet.
