WICKLOW ROVERS

The senior men went down 2-1 away to Mid Sutton Sportslink, the lads were short of players for one reason or another on the day and great credit has to be given to the players on duty in this game as they gave it 100 per cent. Riain Sweetman Burke nabbed his fifth goal since coming into the side recently.

The under-17s went down 4-0 at home to Greystones Utd and to say it was a bad day at the office was an understatement as the lads never really got going in this game.

On Thursday night the under-13As maintained their assault on all three local competitions when they defeated local neighbours Rathnew under the lights at the Whitegates.

Top scorer Jordan Younger nabbed his sixteenth of the season, Callum Gibney made it twelve for the season and Sean O’Meara scored his eleventh in all competitions to send the lads into the semi-final with an excellent 3-0 win.

Saturday’s junior action saw the 12Bs continue their excellent run when they made it eight wins on the bounce after defeating last season’s league champions Greystones Utd 2-0 at the Whitegates.

Robbie Dover’s charges were excellent and are really on a fantastic run at present. Charlie Phelan fired home his eleventh of the season with Mikey Nolan finding the net for the sixth time of the campaign in what was a great all round team performance.

The 14Bs got back to winning ways with a good 2-0 victory over Greystones Utd, the first goal came in the shape of an own goal with a first of the season for Harry Broxsan ensuring all three points were secured for the lads.

A very much under strength 15As travelled to take on Arklow Town and returned with all three points in a battling performance from every player on duty. Chris Mabuza headed home his third goal of the season to capture an excellent win for the lads.

Sundays action saw the under-13 girls good run come to an end when they went down 7-0 to unbeaten Maynooth Town, the girls gave it their all on the day with Rachel Cox standing out on her return to the team.

The 14As suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Coolboy Rangers in what was a closely fought encounter, Samuel Bishop scored his fourth of the season for the lads and were unlucky not to get something from the game.

The 14Cs went down 3-1 to Arklow Celtic, the lads can consider themselves a little unlucky not to get something from the game, Adam Shepherd fired home his fourth of the season.

Our 16B’s recorded an excellent 5-3 win away to Arklow Town in a thrilling game, Nathan Wynne notched a brace to make it fourteen for the season, Nacho Garcia moved onto eleven for the campaign when he also hit two with a first of the season for David McNabb completing the scoring.

Avonmore Under-10s v Greystones Under-10s - What a performance today by Avonmore under-10s.

We were playing a strong Greystones team. Right from the start our lads were first to everything and went 1-0 up early in play. We were pegged back and Greystones actually went 2-1 up.

Our lads again lifted themselves and got a few quick goals leading at the break 6-2.

The second half was much the same our lads dominant throught the pitch.

Our best performance of the year every single player played their heart out and a thoroughly deserved win of 11-3. Well done, lads. Newtown Under-11s v Avonmore Under-11s yellow - Newtown v Avonmore under-11s yellow: We suffered our heaviest defeat of the season today as we travelled to Newtown.

After beating them well earlier on in the season we knew it would be a tough return match.

A much improved Newtown team started strong, scoring some early goals.

Avonmore were not at the races today however, second to the ball and having to deal with some excellent passages of play from the opposition.

Ethan Tarmey who was avonmores best player today was desperate to get on the scoreboard but was denied time after time.

Not our day today lads, but still a great little team.

Avonmore Under-15s v Wolfe Tone Under-15s: Avonmore 3, Wolfe Tone 2: Another great win from our lads especially when we only had nine players special mention to the three Under-12 players who helped us out today they were great.

They were excellent lads defended great and attacked well. Goalscorers were Cormac McGraynor 2, and Kealan Busher who was excellent along with Cody Reid and Francho but in fairness everyone put in a shift proud of the lads.

All our SSG teams were in action last weekend and all the teams performed very well.

The Under-8s hosted Wicklow Rovers White where Albie Chance, David McCormack and Aaron Nolan all scored goals in a very good contest.

The Under-9s travelled to play Wicklow Town and just edged the home side by four goals to three. Aidan Heffernan (3) and Frank Lang scored the goals while William Valentine and Sebastian were among the players who starred.

The Under-10s won 7-0 at home to a gallant Glencormac team where the goals came from Mason Melia (3), Cormac Chance (2), Matthew Doyle and Evan Fahey. Among the players who starred were Dylan Dunleavy and Jack Daly.

The Under-11s produced their best all round team display of the season and a first clean sheet with a 6-nil home win over Avonmore Yellow.

There were six different goalscorers and another player who reached the milestone of scoring his first ever goal, namely Martin Reinhardt. Well done, Martin.

The other goals came from Aaron Cawley, Mason Melia, Ryan McMahon, Keira Farrelly and Jack Coughlan.

Congratulations to two of our Under-15s team i.e. Josh Odlum and Andrew Waters who have been selected for the WDSL Kennedy Cup Squad that will be played in Limerick later on this summer.

They follow in a long line of star players from the club who represented the WDSL down the years.
