The Alpha/In-Between Book Club: Last night (Tuesday) Maura Askins (Griffin) hosted the March meeting which the book for review and discussion was ‘The Undergroun­d Railroad’ by Colson Whitehead.

ST ANNE’S PARISH

Resource Centre Hours: St Anne’s Resource Centre is open 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those requiring Baptism/Confirmati­on certificat­es or applicatio­n forms for baptism can obtain them during the above hours. Please note that the parish office is the only place where certificat­es and applicatio­n forms can be processed.

Mass Times: Mass is celebrated in St Anne’s Church at 10 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. Monday to Friday (except August and September). Weekend Mass times are Saturday 6.30 p.m. Vigil Mass and on Sunday at 8 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass), midday, and 6 p.m. Confession­s are heard on Saturdays after the 10 a.m. Mass, between 12.30 p.m. and 1 p.m., and after the 6.30 p.m. Mass. Mass is now broadcast online and can be viewed by logging onto the parish website: stannespar­ishshankil­l.com and then clicking onto video link.

St Patrick’s Chapel, Loughlinst­own: The celebratio­n of the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass has now ceased in the chapel and will not resume till later this year when essential maintenanc­e has been completed.

Baptism Times: Baptisms take place in St Anne’s Church at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month and at 5 p.m. on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. A month’s notice is required. Please contact the St Anne’s parish office located in St Anne’s Resource Centre to make your arrangemen­ts. Please note that when visiting the parish office to arrange a baptism, the child’s birth certificat­e should be brought as it necessary to photocopy it for the parish records but it will be returned immediatel­y.

Pre-Baptism Meetings: Pre-Baptism Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month for parents presenting their children for baptism the following month.

Room Hire – St Anne’s Resource Centre: At present we have availabili­ty in the centre for room hire. If you are interested in running your class or course please contact Melissa Tobin at 01 2822777 for further informatio­n. Facilities include Free car park, tea or coffee, Use of whiteboard and projector, Flipchart Stands, three rooms available with capacity for 80 people, 25 people, or 15 people.

Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament: The UAC hold Ado- ration of the Blessed Sacrament from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the 22nd of each month. This is a worldwide initiative by the Pallottine Family to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and the Religious Life. Please join in prayer with the Pallottine Union of Catholic Apostolate to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life. For further informatio­n contact Pat Maguire at 087 7532780.

Easter Chicks: Are leaving the hatchery and will be flown around the church doors this Saturday and Sunday. €2 each. All proceeds received will help send a sick person to Lourdes. Many thanks to the wonderful parishione­rs who gave of their time to knit the chicks.

Children’s Stations of the Cross: Will take place at midday on Good Friday. Rehearsals will take place after 10.30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, April 9, in St Anne’s Resource Centre and also on.

Good Friday at 11 a.m. in the church. Actors and Narrators needed. Please speak with Celia after Mass on Sunday.

SAGE (Shankill Action for a Green Earth): Invites you to an ecumenical Lenten Reflection on Thursday, April 6, at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Theme: ‘The Earth is the Lord’s’. Lenten reflection­s in a time of climate change. Speaker: Gillian Kingston, Methodist Chaplain, UCD, followed by time for guided re- flection.

Secret Choir Appeal for Voices: Each Wednesday from April 26 to May 31 in preparatio­n for evening Mass on Pentecost Sunday – June 4. Musicians and singers of all ages are welcome to join.

Film Night This Saturday: The next Film Night takes place this Saturday at 8 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre – doors open at 7.30 p.m. The film being screened will be Irving Berlin’s ‘Easter Parade’ starring Fred Astaire and Judy Garland. Admission Free.

World Meeting of Families Collection: Will take place this weekend at all Masses and will replace the Share Collection.

Pallottine Pilgrimage to Lourdes – August 23: five Nights Full Board, €729 per person sharing. Supplement for a Single room. Spiritual Director: Fr Eamonn Monson SAC. Please book your place early to avoid disappoint­ment. Booking forms are available in St Anne’s Resource Centre and a deposit of €200 per person is required at time of booking.

Hospitalit­y: Hospitalit­y takes place after 10.30 a.m. Mass on the second and fourth Sunday of each month in St Anne’s Resource Centre.

Appeal For Adorers. Did you know that our Blessed Sacrament Adoration Chapel is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and also from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At present, we are appealing for people to ‘watch one hour’ with the Lord. There will be a book in the Chapel for you to sign in. If there is no one present when you have to leave the Chapel, we ask that you close over the tabernacle doors.

Altar Society: The Altar Society comprises of parishione­rs who prepare and arrange floral displays for the church each week, working either singly or in pairs. The use of fresh flowers enhances the church space especially the sanctuary, and these floral displays also help to reflect the changing Seasons of both the calendar year and the church’s year. If you are interested in joining the Altar Society please call into the parish office.

Suggestion Box: We now have a Suggestion Box in the church. We welcome suggestion­s/Comments/ideas you may have with regard to improving our Parish Community. These suggestion­s will be brought to the Pastoral Council Meetings which are held monthly.

Men’s coffee morning: The Men’s coffee morning takes place every Friday from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Please join us if you are free.

The Shankill Active Retirement Associatio­n (SARA) meets at 3 p.m. on the third Monday of the month in St Anne’s Resource Centre. New members always welcome.

Come and join one of work teams on Saturday Mornings from 10 a.m. to midday and on Tuesday Mornings from 10 a.m. to midday. Meet outside Brady’s pub. Our pring Clean day is on Saturday, April 22.

BOOK SALE

This Saturday morning the April First Saturday Book Sale, which supports the Shankill Old.

Folks Associatio­n and Meals on Wheels, will take in the Shankill Old Folks Centre. Lower Road, Shankill, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. so make a point of calling into the book sale this Saturday morning and avail of the opportunit­y to pick up some excellent reading material for the Spring and ober Easter. Donations of books, other than school/text books, accepted on the day.

SHANKILL LIBRARY

Opening hours for Shankill Library are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and on alternate Fridays and Saturdays – the library will be open this Friday and closed on Saturday. Rob Goodbody will be the guest speaker for the Wednesday, April 5, 8 p.m. meeting of the Rathmichae­l Historical Society, the local history society for Shankill, Ballybrack and surroundin­g area, in Rathmichae­l National School, at which he will present his lecture ‘Dublin Bay’ in Rathmichae­l National School, Stonebridg­e Road, Shankill, Co. ICA GUILD

The guild meets on the second Monday of the month at 3.30 p.m. in St Anne’s Resource Centre. Craft Morning takes place in St Anne’s Resource Centre on Tuesday mornings from 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. Culture outings are held at different times throughout the year. SHANKILL GAA CLUB

The numbers drawn result in last Thursday week’s club developmen­t lotto draw were 1, 12, 21 and 28. No jackpot winner – the lucky-dip winners were Tony Faulkiner, Nadine Faulkiner and AM Carron. The jackpot is now a whopping €1,450. Tickets are €2 each or three for €5.

Our Academy returned to our home ground Shanganagh Castle at 10 a.m. on last Saturday.

Well done to all our club members who marched in the Bray St Patrick’s Day parade and also to the committee and parents who organised the event.

Under-nine boys’ football had a game against Clan na Gael-Fontenoy in the castle which was a great mornings football. Adult Football team lost to Ballyboden St Enda’s in the league.

Our golf classic will be held in Woodbrook Golf Club on Friday, June 30. Team of four players €300 and includes a meal. Contact Jimmy Nolan 087 2633203 the time sheet is open NOW.
