A top class performance

-

WICKLOW Drama Group celebrated their 30th anniversary with a special production of ‘ The Maiden Aunt’ over three nights in the Grand Hotel.

Marie Comerford was the director of the comedy by Irish playwright Jimmy Keary.

The play was performed in front of appreciative audiences on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

In the play, Gertie O’Grady (Miriam Coppola) was discharged from hospital into the care of her niece Mary and her begrudging farmer husband Dan (Shaun Carroll).

When Mary informed Dan that aunt Gertie has not yet made her will, he comes up with a cunning plan to make sure they get rid of Gertie once and for all and a will is properly in place.

As part of Wicklow Drama Group’s anniversary celebrations, a wine and cheese reception was held on the Thursday and Friday night performances.

A champagne reception with finger food was reserved for the final night of the show on Saturday.
