AFTERNOON TEA DANCE

HOLY WELLS WALK
On Sunday, April 23, join the group for a relaxing day visiting three Holy Wells in different locations in Co.Wicklow. Learn about the rituals and traditions of the Wells in pre-Christian and Christian traditions. Suggested donation of €10 (It is possible to visit just one well and not all three).

EMM-TECH WORKSHOP
In just eight hours, learn how to aid forearm weakness, improve neck rotation, aid shoulder pain and flexibility, improve balance and stability, apply skills in all age groups, and improve general mobility and flexibility. HERITAGE PROJECT
This skill-sharing, multi-disciplinary, group community art project invites local residents, interest groups and other interested parties to use their skills and knowledge to create and design a collection of artwork for exhibition purposes. The group will examine the archaeology, history, environment, society and culture of Glendalough from a creative and artistic perspective. To find out more, come along to the centre at 7 p.m. on April 20 for the open evening hosted by the Community Education Service of Kildare Wicklow ETB.
BASKET-MAKING
This full-day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib). HALF MARATHON
Glendalough AC are organising the second running of the iconic Glendalough Lap of the Gap Marathon – Ireland’s highest road race taking runners from Glendalough to Sally Gap and back past Lough Tay.
The race provides both spectacular scenery and a real physical challenge. For those wanting to ‘ease in’, the Glen to Glen Half-marathon is a second option where you will run from Glendalough to Glenmacnass Waterfall and finish with a fast last nine kilometres back to Laragh.
There are T-shirts and medals for the first 200 sign-ups, prizes, water stations and post-race tea and cakes are just some of the services included. The route is AAI measured and insured and the race is chip timed.

Next Sunday (Easter Sunday) Newtownmountkennedy remembers and celebrates Captain Robert Monteith, and Easter 1916, under the title ‘We Remember’ Proceedings start at midday, with the Monteith Story, in song and narration, and will feature the piper’s lament. The 1916 theme follows with the Proclamation, and Wreath Laying Honours. A company of Post 21 of the Irish United Nations Veterans Association will support the trumpeter’s Last Post and Reveille.
