NEWTOWN JUNIORS FC

Lots of great action last weekend to go with some fine sunny weather. Pride of place goes to our under-13s who have qualified for the under-13 Premier Cup final after a 3-2 win away to Aughrim Rangers to leave our team the winners on an aggregate score of 5-3. On the day the goals came from Martin Kelly (2) and Bobby Dowling. These were Martin’s first goals of the season so he picked the perfect time to hit the net. The whole team played well but special mention to goalkeeper Ryan Clarke, who pulled of some very good saves. The day had got off to a bad start when midfielder Luke Breen sustained a leg injury while out playing. We wish Luke a speedy recovery.

The under-eights travelled to Kilcoole to take on St Anthony’s and enjoyed a close game where David, Leighton and Oisin were among the players to hit the net.

The under-nines enjoyed a close game with Wicklow Rovers White where Luke Turley, William Valentine and Sebastian found the net. Among those who starred were Mikey Synnott, Frank Lang and Dylan Dunleavy.

The 10’s hosted Rathnew in glorious sunshine and came out on the right end of a 6-2 scoreline. Jack Daly led the way with a hat trick, Cormac Chance scored twice and there was also a goal for Mason Melia. On the day among those who starred were Naoise Lowe and PJ Duffy.

The following are the fixtures for the weekend of Friday to Sunday, April 14 to April 16: under-eights – No Fixture; under-nines – East Coast Football Blitz; under-10s – East Coast Football Blitz; under-11s – No Fixture; under-13s – No Fixture; under-15s – No Fixture (fixtures and ko times are subject to change)

Two players from the club celebrate a birthday in the coming week and they are Jerard Jolance from the Development Squad and Evan Fahey from the under-10s. Happy birthday lads from everyone at Newtown Juniors FC.

There will be no Development Squad training this coming weekend, as it is Easter Weekend. The teams have confirmed their training times for the week beginning Monday, April 10: under-eights on Wednesdays 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; under-nines Thursdays 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; under-10s on Tuesdays 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; under-11s Wednesdays 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.; under-13s Wednesdays 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.; under-15s Thursdays 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Our latest Last Man Standing competition will be going into week five, as we will have 13 out of our 14 players left standing. We could have a full house after the Monday Night Football game as one of our Players has selected Arsenal. Week five fixtures will be for the weekend of Sat.15th-April 17. Many thanks to everyone for their continued support.
