Our second annual 10k and Relay Race will take place on Friday, July 15 – more details re online registrati­on available in March.

AVOCA TIDY TOWNS

Well done to everyone who volunteere­d for the clean-up/litter pick along the Avoca/Kilmagig Pure Mile and Beech Road/love Lane Pure Mile today – over 30 volunteers turned up and over 60 bags of litter was collected – from the junction to Tigroney up past the Avoca Handweaver­s through Avoca Village and on to O’Mahonys and Love Lane – the rubbish will be picked up from the specified locations by the Pure Project on Monday. Well done everyone great community spirit. We will keep you updated on the next organised clean-up.

All members are invited to sing with us in the Dawn chorus Sunday, May 7, at 7 a.m. in the park in Avoca.

Our AGM is on Thursday, May 18, at 2 p.m. in the hall. All members please try to attend this meeting if possible. past two shows, Graham Finnerty, will be taking on the role of directing the concert.

Tickets at a cost of €15 for Adults and €10 for Students are now available from Mrs Kennedy, Main Street Carnew, from Carnew Training and Developmen­t Centre or from any of the Carnew Musical Society Committee. Don’t miss this truly special event.

DRAMA FESTIVAL

Once again audiences for South Wicklow Drama Festival were treated to a wonderful feast of Drama which saw St Brigid’s Hall full to capacity on many of the nights. The festival was officially closed by Fr Joe Power PP, Kilrush and president of Kilrush Drama Group, but before that, the Ajudicator gave his final adjudicati­on and results for what was an incredible nine nights with plays performed to an extremely high standard.

However, as it was a competitio­n, someone had to win and the results for the 2017 South Wicklow Drama Festival were as follows.

CONFINED SECTION: First – Sillan Players with the Trappe Family; second – Take five with the Telephone Exchange; third – Lislea with Juno and the Paycock. TINAHELY WALKING CLUB

Sunday, April 16, is Easter Sunday and no walk is scheduled. On Sunday, April 23, the walk will be at Lowbawn/Sugarloaf (Grade B, 14km, 3.5 hours) meeting in Tinahely at 10 a.m.

21ST BIRTHDAY
