MUSICAL SOCIETY 50TH

Carnew Musical Society will celebrate their 50th anniversar­y with an Anniversar­y Concert on Easter Sunday night, April 16, in St Brigid’s Hall commencing at 8 p.m. This is a once in a lifetime concert, which has brought over 50 past and present members together under the musical direction of Lar Duffy to perform what will be a wonderful and nostalgic trip down memory lane.

Tinahely CCE will host the Wicklow County Fleadh on Saturday, April 22, in Tinahely NS This festival of traditiona­l music and culture is set to attract entries and visitors from all over the county.

Tea, coffee, cakes and sandwiches galore will be served in the ‘Tea Room’ Community Hall, Tinahely from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from refreshmen­ts will go to Kare Tinahely Local Service. Fundraisin­g is a vital source of additional income for Kare. A special thanks to our local Tinahely Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann branch for generously offering the proceeds from the refreshmen­ts to Kare.

BUS SERVICE TO GOREY

A new local community bus service has just been organised to facilitate our local areas, starting at Old Bus Stop at Inch at 10.24, on to Scarnagh Cross at 10.29 a.m., turning left through Ballykilty for Coolgreany at 10.35 in the Main Street, and finally to St Mogue’s Hall for 10.39 a.m., this service will operate each Tuesday and Friday, and the return trip from Gorey will leave at 4.30 p.m. each Tuesday and Friday (4.30 p.m. each day). The cost is €4 single, or €7 return, Valid Free Travel Passes are accepted. The Bus Phone No. is 087 2348447. Hopefully this new initiative will be well supported.

The annual spring Clean will start in early April, and continue up to the start of the 2K clean-up in associatio­n with Wexford Co Co is run in April and May, and we are asking all residents to come out and do a clean-up their roads.
