Man must pay more

-

A man who caused dental damage to an injured party costing over €5,000 to repair was told in the local district court last week that he must pay more compensation.

Simon Olsen of 23 Churchview is charged with assault causing harm to Declan Kenny at Kenny’s of the Harbour on June 19, 2015. The matter was previously adjourned to allow the defendant time to make payment and solicitor David Tarrant told the court that a total of €3,000 had been paid for him to pass on to Mr Kenny.

Judge David Kennedy said that his records show that the dental bill previous to last Wednesday’s court date totalled €3,545 and not €3,000 as stated.

Mr Kenny gave evidence that his dental work is ongoing and that another €2,700 of work is to be carried out. Judge Kennedy said that the victim should not be expected to pay for this and said that the defendant must come up with the money, as the situation was ‘down to his own actions’.

The matter was adjourned for mention on September 13, 2017.
