Lively forwards provide An Tochar with the edge

Kilcoole fought hard all day to stay in touch with the well drilled An Tochar outfit however in the end Kilcoole’s discipline did leave them down as they finished with three black cards. Cards to Declan Roper and Keith Reynolds in the first half disrupted Kilcoole’s fluency.

It was point for point in the opening 20 minutes of the first half with both full-forwards in fine form.

Conor Davis for An Tochar and Danny Kavanagh for Kilcoole swapped scores on numerous occasions in the first half. Both sharpshoot­ers would finish the day with five points and six points respective­ly.

Like the second half An Tochar did open up a two-point lead, 0-07 to 0-05, with some fantastic scores where they used the open space that was created by playing a twoman full-forward line.

Kilcoole did start brightly in the second half and with moving both Ronan Keddy and Colly McGovern to midfield they got a period of domination in that sector. This period saw them rattle off four points to take a one-point lead.

However, An Tochar kicked back into form and finished the last quarter outscoring their hosts by six points to two to win on a score line of 14 points to 11.

Best for An Tochar were Conor Davis, Peter and Gerard Byrne. Kilcoole had strong performanc­es from Lukie Reilly, Matt Gilbert and Danny Kavanagh.
