Two very important events coming up for the Kilmacanogue History Society members. Their final talk of this year’s spring programme is now just over a week away and will take place on Tuesday, May 2, at 8 p.m. in the Glenview Hotel. The guest speaker is Carmel O’Toole and the title of her talk is ‘Glenmalure, The Wild Heart of the Mountains’.

This illustrated talk will chart the history of Glenmalure from pre-Christian times to the present day. It will take us through times of war and rebellion, including the social, educational and sporting history of the community and surrounding areas. Carmel O’Toole is an author, historian and educator who was born and reared in the Glenmalure Valley, where she still resides. Her book ‘Glenmalure the Wild Heart of the Mountains – A Valley And Its People’ was published in 2015. The society really look forward to seeing you all on May 2, especially new members. Admission is €4 or €3 for members.
