BEALTAINE FESTIVAL
We would welcome anyone in the community to come and join us for our annual celebration at the Brockagh Resource Centre (0404 45600). The line-up is as follow: May 2, A morning of music with Joe McKenna. Free admission. May 9 – Bowls in the main hall. Free admission. May 21, Afternoon Tea Dance with music by the Wicklow Man. OLDER PERSONS AGM GO FOR LIFE GAMES
The National Programme for Sport and Physical Activity for older people is hosting a free ‘come and try’ day demonstrating the Go for Life Games on Wednesday, May 3, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. (lunch included) in the Brockagh Centre, Laragh. This invitation is extended to members of active retirement groups/ ICA groups/Men’s Sheds/clubs etc., anyone who would like to ‘have a go’ and join in. All welcome to take part, no previous experience necessary just enthusiasm. Participants taking part in the workshop should wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear (e.g. flat soled runners, walking shoes). SHAKE UP DAY – We invite you to the Brockagh Centre, Laragh on Thursday, June 8, for ShakeUp Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with coffee from 10.30 and a light lunch at 1 p.m. This will be an energetic and sociable occasion resulting in the formation of a team to represent County Wicklow at DCU on Saturday, June 10, from 10 p.m. to 5 p.m. Country Wicklow needs to form a new team of nine players this year. ACTIVE RETIREMENT
The Active Retired are organising a trip to Wexford’s Whites Hotel from Tuesday, June 20, to Thursday, June 22, and there are still places left for anyone interested in a small holiday break. The bus will conveniently pick up from the Brockagh and then direct to Wexford with a stop for lunch on the way. This is a threeday trip, with two nights stay and two dinners with day trips to various places. Return to Brockagh on the Thursday evening. PERFORMING ARTS
The garden is now ready for planting and we welcome the community into the garden. Plots are available for those wishing to grow their own vegetables.
The polytunnel can be used for growing tomatoes etc. and if you have a small garden but want to grow potatoes or larger vegetables such as marrow we have the space. Call Finian at 086 2476822.

BASKET-MAKING
This full-day, traditional basket-making workshop will teach you basic basketry techniques. Taught in a relaxed learning environment, you will bring home your own completed small round willow basket (a skib).
