LITTLE TERN PARK

The playground is almost finished and will officially open on May 11. KAPS would ask that people refrain from entering the site till that date as works are still ongoing and safety cannot be guaranteed.

EASTER EGG APPEAL

Sylvia Scanlon would like thank all who supported her recent Easter Egg Appeal and charity day in Byrne’s Pub which raised in total €1,977.22. A total of 60 eggs were given to Newcastle Hospital, the remainder was divided between Open Door, Kilcoole Tidy Towns, The Bray Lakers and the Alzheimers Society. Leftover prizes were donated to the Bingo Club, the Old Folks and Open Door.

There were more than 100 prizes in the draw thanks to Byrne’s, Trident Holiday Homes, Nika Fit Studio, Newcastle Aerodrome and many others. A big thank you to Kilcoole Thrift Shop and East Coast Radio, and to my family especially my mum and Mrs Hacket. This was the 10th year of this event which started in my kitchen.

KILCOOLE TIDY TOWNS

PARENT/TODDLER GROUP

All are welcome to come along to the parent and toddler group at the Community Centre from 10.30 p.m. to midday every Wednesday. €2 per child.

COMMUNITY CENTRE

LOTTO

Kilcoole GAA weekly lotto draw takes place every Monday night with the jackpot increasing €200 per week till it’s won. Pick four numbers, match four to win or share in the jackpot, match three to win or share €200. Tickets on sale in Tesco and Centra every Saturday morning or daily from some outlets or any committee member.

BINGO

Bingo is held on Monday nights in St Patrick’s Hall at 8 p.m. Everybody is welcome.

The Roundwood and District Community Council has secured funding for the upgrading of paths around the Upper Vartry Reservoir. The work will include creating a compound area and the reinstatem­ent of a four feet wide track around a section of the Upper Reservoir and the resurfacin­g of same.

The group is seeking tenders from registered contractor­s to complete this work. Tenders will be sought from contractor­s with machinery capable of undertakin­g this work. The conditions of the funding require that the successful contractor­s have a current C2 and tax clearance certificat­e.

ANNAMOE CENTRE

Now with the longer evenings the Wednesday evenings walks can take to the countrysid­e. The walks will leave from the Coach House car park on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. to take in some of the great walks around the Vartry Reservoirs. Do come along and bring a friend.

THE MARTIN FAMILY TRUST

There will be a coffee morning and Cake Sale on Saturday, May 13, at 10 a.m. till 12.30 p.m. in Roundwood Parish Hall in aid of the Martin Family Trust. There will be a raffle on the day. Donations of baking and spot prizes will be very gratefully received. Everyone is welcome so come along and enjoy a chat and a cuppa for a very worthy cause. Another Fundraiser for the Martin Family – This Friday, April 28, there will be a fabulous table quiz and rock n roll bingo in the Grand Hotel Wicklow. There will be a fantastic raffle with some amazing prizes: tickets to the Late Late, a walk on part in Fair City and much more. Tickets are a snip at only €10. If you can’t make it on the night, perhaps you could give your Donation to Aoife.

It wouldn’t be long now till the Tidy Towns judges are back seeing what improvemen­ts have happened since last year. A Tidy Towns work night in Roundwood village is planned for Monday, April 27, at 7 p.m. meeting at the Parish Hall.

WESTPORT BREAK

There will be a Country music break to Westport from the 22nd to October 27 with day trips on some of the days. It will be five night, six-day tour with dinner, bus from Roundwood and back, dinner, bed and breakfast in the 3* The Westport Woods Hotel and music every night with acts such as TR Dallas, and Mike Denver and many more. Day trips to Achill Island, Wild Atlantic Way to a pint in Matt Molloys bar.

The SHED is open at Pat Carr’s place in Knockrahee­n every Tuesday between 10 and 12. The improved weather conditions means that our virgin gardening will soon get under way. Double and single beds will be available and it has been asked whether these beds could also be provided indoors. Bunk beds have also been mentioned. Feel free to come along and get involved in the healthy, therapeuti­c growing venture. You can be assured of a warm welcome. The members are very grateful for all the support and good will towards the SHED. This was shown in a special way at the recent open day organised by the RDCC. LOTTO RESULTS

There was no jackpot winner in last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were. 3, 21, 27 and 30. There were three match-three winners, Joe Price, Anita Byrne and Jackie Wolohan. Next week’s jackpot will be €14,200.

CEILI FIGURE DANCING

Any adults interestin­g in reliving their youth when we all learned to Ceili dance? There are Ceili dancing lessons in the Parish Hall in Roundwood on Wednesday nights starting at 8 p.m. for an hour. It’s learning to ceili dance in a fun and friendly manner (solo and group dances). Just come along on the night

ROUNDWOOD DANCE

The next dance in Roundwood Community Centre is on Friday, May 19, from 9 p.m. midnight with music by the Wicklow Man.
