Fight in courthouse

April 1998

-

A FIGHT broke out in the foyer of Bray courthouse last week minutes before the weekly court session was due to get under way.

A number of people were involved in the fracas but gardaí were on the scene within seconds to break up the row.

Three people were arrested and taken down to Bray garda station.

In the afternoon, two brothers were charged with engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour in the courthouse earlier in the day.

The court was told by their solicitor Joe Maguire that words were exchanged between his clients and some people from their past which led to the incident.

Judge Desmond Hogan imposed a fine of £50 on each of the men.

A third man faced a similar charge in connection with the incident but his case was ajourned until May.
