Woman stole straighteners

A BRAY woman who stole a straightener from Boots was sentenced to nine months.

Donna Byrne (37), Flat 8, An Lar, Lower Dargle Road, Committed the offence on January 22. She was before Judge David Kennedy last Thursday at Bray District Court.

Byrne was also charged later in the day with taking a phone from someone in the public gallery.

The court heard that Byrne was searched in custody after a member of the public told gardai her phone was gone. The phone was found in her bag.

She replied ‘I’m very sorry’ after caution, the court heard. ‘I was going to give the phone back,’ Byrne said in court.

‘I picked it up and was going to give it to my barrister. You kept telling me to stop talking,’ she said.

The matter was adjourned to May 8 for a plea or a date.
