Hollywood won a lineball on the halfway line which Ciaran Tyrell launched into the dangerzone where amazingly the outrunning goalie misjudged the ball as it bounced on the 21-metre line over his head and into the net for a goal to leave two points in it with 55 on the clock. Game on!!!

However back came Kimac and the found the back of the Hollywood net again via a fisted shot by Sam O’Callaghan to restore a more cushioned lead. Hollywood went in search of a goal but had to be content with a Keith Peppard point to bring an end to proceeding­s as the full-time whistle sounded.

AN early goal from An Tochar wing forward Liam Gaffney as well as a five point haul for sharp shooter Conor Davis proved to be crucial in securing a home victory for An Tochar last Saturday evening against Aughrim.

An early red card for Aughrim meant perfection was required for the away side to take anything from the game but the Granite City men fell short in this regard despite a positive second-half showing. Aughrim opened the scoring through the boot of Peter Quigley after Richard Keegan got on the end of a superb pass into the full forward line from Conor Lambert. In fact, this was the first of several excellent balls in to the full forward line from Conor Lambert, who was a real stud in midfield for his side. An Tochar swiftly responded with two scores of their own. First Graham Sutton nailed a superb score from a tight angle on the right hand side before Gerry Byrne sent his side into the lead on the back of good work in the build-up by Eamonn Wolohan.

Wolohan is lightning quick and superb at creating space for himself to drive forward into. Valleymoun­t’s Stephen Byrne was having a mighty game at midfield and along with a good few big hits, was a thorn in Shillelagh’s side throughout the game.

Brendan Behan who was covering every blade of grass on the pitch clipped on another point after good work by Eoin Byrne. Laurie Cullen brought of two good saves in the Shillelagh goal as Valleymoun­t went for the jugular. Shillelagh tired a bit as the game went on as Valleymoun­t were nearly registerin­g a score a minute entering the final quarter.

Points by Shay Geoghegan and Glen Cullen closed out the scoring for the home side before Brendan Behan landed a brace of points in the last two minutes as the full time whistle sounded.

Brendan Behan, Stephen Byrne and Laurie Cullen battled hard for the visitors while Stephen Byrne, Jack Slattery and Glen Cullen were impressive for the home side who now top Division 3.
