Hundreds leg it for Lakers at Vartry Reservoir trail

- By MARY FOGARTY

The ‘Leg it For Lakers’ 10km fun run got underway in Roundwood recently, raising money for the sports and recreation club for people with an intellectual disability.

Hundreds of athletes set off around the Vartry reservoir, enjoying the breathtaking County Wicklow scenery on an enjoyably flat route.

Despite being in the highest village in Ireland, this was one of the flattest 10km trails availabe.

Runners and joggers of all levels and abilities took part, all in aid of a fantastic cause.

People from all over County Wicklow use the facilities in the bray-based Lakers club.

The day included post-race refreshments and a very enjoyable barbecue back at The Roundwood parish hall while everyone cooled off and relaxed after taking on the challenge.
