Battle of the bands winners

-

HAVING run throughout the months of February, March and April, with a live final on April 23, the winners of the first-ever Stepping Stones: Battle Of The Bands have just been announced.

Winning the Judges’ Prize, Kilcoole four-piece Feuds will now have a professional video shoot with Robin J Kavanagh, plus a professional photo shoot with Pablo Photography.

All-girl five-piece Taken were the winners of the Public Prize.

They will also get the video shoot and photo shoot, as well as two days of studio recording with Hive Studios’ Eoin Whitfield.

Both bands will also be given a framed certificate of their Stepping Stones win.

The bands will be invited to perform support slots in major venues in the town.

The competition itself was made possible by the funding of the €1,500 worth of prizes, donated by both Greystones Municipal District Council and the newly-formed Greystones 2020.

The plans are in place to make Stepping Stones: Battle Of The Bands an annual event.

The project will also include showcase gigs throughout the year.

The judges and organisers were stunned by the quality of this year’s entries.

Special mentions went out to Emily Beattie, Next To The Attic, and folk duo Lauren McBride and Sam Cox for their excellent performances in the competition.
