BOOK CLUB GREYSTONES LIBRARY

For avid readers, there are three book clubs for adults in Greystones Library. The clubs take place on the second Wednesday and the last Wednesday of every month at 11 a.m. and the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m.

MUSIC CIRCLE

The Music Circle meets on the first Wednesday of every month in Greystones Library from 7 p.m. to 8.45 p.m. Come along and listen or participat­e by choosing your favourite classical pieces to share with others.

MUSICAL MEDLEY

The East Coast Academy of Performing Arts are proud to present ‘A Musical Medley at the Mermaid Arts Centre on Saturday, July 17, The evening of song and dance will feature excerpts from all your favourite movies and musicals from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hairspray, High School Musical, a Chorus Line and Cinderella. The event features students aged four to 12 from ECAPs Greystones branch.

BROKENTALK­ERS ‘HAVE I NO MOUTH’

Brokentalk­ers in associatio­n with Project Arts Centre present Have I No Mouth on Friday, May 12, at Mermaid Arts Centre. ‘Have I no mouth’ is a powerful piece of theatre exploring the changing nature of the relationsh­ip between a mother and son in the aftermath of a family tragedy. Written and performed by real life Mother and son Feidlim Cannon and Ann Cannon, the production takes a brave, unflinchin­g look at their past and attempts to piece together the truth, while exploring different ways we heal ourselves after the unthinkabl­e happens. Ann and Feidlim are joined on stage by profession­al psychother­apist Erich Keller. Directed by Brokentalk­ers’ artistic directors Feidlim Cannon, and Gary Keegan, this tour is produced by Project Arts Centre and funded by the Arts Council. Have I No Mouth was originally produced with funding from an Arts Council Project Award.

JUNIOR MUSICALS – TALES AS OLD AS TIME

Junior and Youth Musicals present ‘Tale As Old As Time’ their summer show bursting with talent and colour on Sunday, May 14, at the Mermaid Arts Centre.

The show features vibrant excerpts from Beauty and the Beast, Ghost and Chicago, hip hop routines to the latest chart hits, choral singing by the Junior Musicals Theatre School choir and the tots will present their very own version of Beauty and the Beast. ACTION ARTS

The Action Arts end-of-year show takes place from Wednesday, May 17, to Sunday, May 21, at the Mermaid Arts Centre. Presenting a wonderful mixture of dramatic art, singing and dance, the performers ages three to 12 years will engage you with drama and song from well known musicals and plays. Be amazed and entertaine­d by these very talented children their presentati­on of ‘Fiddler On the Roof’. These gifted and talented teenagers were placed first at the Bray One Act Drama Festival Youth Section last January.

GOSPEL CHOIR ARKLOW

The Revival Gospel Choir Arklow are currently recruiting new members. They are looking for musicians and singers to join their multidenom­inational choir. If interested in joining please contact Carol at 087 6266070 or email rgcarklow@gmail.com.

Rehearsals continues every Monday evening in the Abbey Room, Grand Hotel, and Wednesday evenings in St Brigid’s Hall, Rathnew, both at 8 p.m.

TRADITIONA­L IRISH MUSIC

Traditiona­l Irish Music is known and admired around the world. This history of Irish traditiona­l music is interwoven into the fabric of Irish culture, folklore and dance. Irish musical tradition draws its strength from the passionate music makers who re-interpret fabulous old melodies into modern forms helping to keep Irish music a living tradition. The music scene in Wicklow has evolved from its main settings in the houses and pubs of rural areas to expand the globe. The premier outlet for Irish music is the live traditiona­l sessions which gather together musicians who create a vibrant and dynamic musical experience for both visitors and Wicklow natives alike. TIM CROUCH – I, MALVOLIO

Multi-award winning playwright and performer Tim Crouch reimagines Twelfth Night in this, his brilliant one-man show. Taking place at the Mermaid Arts Centre on Thursday, May 11, in a charged, unsettling rant, Malvolio, a man notoriousl­y wronged, draws us into the madness of Shakespear­e’s play and forces us to confront our own cruelty. I, Malvolio, is Twelfth Night told from a loser’s perspectiv­e. It’s a show for anyone who has ever been told off, called a name, or fallen in love with the wrong person. Tickets are available from the Mermaid Arts Centre.
