OLCOURT SCHEME TENDERS

- By MARY FOGARTY

TENDERS FOR the Oldcourt energy efficiency works were issued to the multi party framework, with a closing date of Wednesday, April 26.

At last week’s meeting of Bray Municipal District, members heard that a total of five responses were received by district officials and these have been forwarded to the consulting engineers for assessment. Two successful contractors will be appointed. According to housing officer Triona Irving, the works are expected to start within the next month or so and they expect to complete 28 houses by the end of the year.

Officials have said that they plan to accommodate the longest-standing residents of the estate first during this phase of the works. Eight houses are currently vacant in Oldcourt, because they will be used as ‘decanting’ houses for residents to use while works are under way at their own homes.

Ms Irving said that these houses will be allocated after the completion of the energy efficiency works.

Meanwhile, the council is still working towards a start date of September 2017 and a finish date of May 2019 for the housing project at Kilbride Lane.

The build will take around 18 months once it starts. Forty-two social housing units are planned for the site, at a cost of €14.7 million.

Officials are currently preparing a submission of DAC and fire certs and liaising with adjoining properties regarding party wall finishes.

Members heard that officials are working towards a date of June 28, 2017, for preparation of tender documents.
