Junior entreprene­urs to showcase projects

COUNTY Wicklow’s enterprene­ur’s of the future will be putting their business talents on display at a special showcase event next week.

After a year of working on their businesses, some 500 pupils from fourth, fifth and sixth classes around the county will take part in the County Wicklow Junior Entreprene­ur Programme (JEP) showcase in Roundwood on Thursday, May 25. The event will take place in the clubhouse at An Tochar GAA from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The JEP, which is sponsored in Wicklow by Aspire Technology, has grown in popularity in recent years. While ten schools displayed their work at last year’s showcase, at least 18 classes are expected to impress visitors at this year’s event.

Among those expected to attend are pupils from St Mary’s and St Gerard’s NS from Enniskerry, Donard NS, Donoughmor­e NS, Gaelscoil na gCloch Liath, Kilcommon NS from Tinahely, Kilcoole Primary School, Kiltegan NS, Moneystown NS, Our Lady’s NS in Rathdrum, SN Mhuire in Stratford on Slaney, Scoil Chaoimhin Naofa from Glendaloug­h, Scoil San Eoin from Redcross, St Francis NS in Newcastle, St Brigid’s NS in Blessingto­n, St Kevin’s NS in Greystones, St Laurence’s NS from Greystones, and Stratford Lodge NS.

Among the businesses the children have come with are oaties, personalis­ed photo frames, pamper hampers, tin can souvenirs, cookie jars, personalis­ed mugs, book marks, emoji t-shirts and wrist bands.
