Testing times for Older of Malta cadets

-

BRAY hosted the Order of Malta Regional Cadet Competitions recently at St Peter’s School.

The young people aged 10 to 16 came from all over the region to participate. Each region held their competition simultaneously at various locations around the country. The winners will go through to the All-Ireland in Limerick in July.

Cadets came to the school hall and grounds, where they took part in first aid competitions, foot drill and home nursing.

They were divided into junior and senior, teams and individuals. A team of four would have treated two people, while individuals were given one person to treat.

There were at least 12 units participating in the event, with an average of six cadets from each. They came from areas such as Cabra, Swords, Raheny and Shankill.

There was a good turnout for the competition. Bray had not played host to the event for some years. On this occasion, Bray didn’t send anyone on to the finals, but there were winners from Shankill.
