CRONAN’S ON FIRE

Bray side see off Talbotstown to win Credit Union Cup

-

ST.CRONAN’S Claim Credit Union Cup - The final hurling event of the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol schedule took place in Bray Emmets GAA Grounds last Wednesday.

Eight schools in total participated: St Cronan’s (1), St Cronan’s (2), St Pat’s Wicklow (1), St. Pats Wicklow (2), Talbotstown, St Laurences, Gaelscoil Chill Mhantáin, Glenealy, St. Kevins and Newtownmountkennedy PS.

The ten teams were divided into two groups of five. St Cronan’s (1) and Talbotstown emerged as the winners of their respective groups. There were fantastic displays of scores and teamwork across all the matches. With all the talented young hurlers on show during the tournament, there is a bright future for Wicklow hurling!

St. Cronan’s and Talbotstown played excellently in an exciting final full of great scores and endeavour.

However, it was the local school St. Cronan’s who were victorious and claimed the Credit Union Cup for 2017. An extremely talented bunch of hurlers. A special word must go to Talbotstown for reaching the final with such a small number of boys to choose from. It was a wonderful achievement and they showed great sportsmanship in defeat and are a credit to their school.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the schools who participated in the hurling competitions and promoted hurling this year from Allianz Cumann na mBunscol.

Allianz Camogie Blitz Cancelled, Hope to Re-Schedule

Due to the unavailability of schools last Wednesday the camogie blitz had to be cancelled, unfortunately. If your school will be in a position to attend a camogie blitz in the next few weeks (on a Wednesday) please let Camogie Officer Fiona Ni Shuilleabhain (by email: fiona.nishuilleabhain3@ mail.dcu.ie, or text 086 3748903) know what dates your school is available and she will try to rearrange this blitz if there are enough schools available. Apologies!
