Vincent awarded Hospice Sunflower Hero

-

GREYSTONES man Vincent Doran received a ‘Sunflower Hero’ award from RTE’s Mary Kennedy for his outstanding dedication to Wicklow Hospice Foundation. The presentation took place in the Mansion House Dublin at the national launch of Hospice Sunflower Days. The fundraising campaign will take place on July 9 and 100. The Irish Hospice Foundation coordinates the event on behalf of the hospice movement including Wicklow Hospice Foundation. All funds raised locally, stay locally.

‘Vincent is a talented amateur photographer who uses his skills to promote the hospice by photographing at events,’ said a spokesperson for Wicklow Hospice Foundation. ‘Vincent saw that we were lacking an active Facebook page to promote the project and went and did a course in using Facebook and then volunteered to look after our Facebook page and keep it updated with information and photos of all fundraising events taking place throughout the county. Vincent is always the man behind the camera and is never seen in any of the photos or cheque presentations. Even for health reasons when he was unable to drive himself to the events he ensured he got someone to take him there. Vincent has been involved with the foundation since it was established in 2009 and prefers to be behind the camera, never looking for recognition for the tireless work he does attending all fundraising events.’
