Birdwatch Ireland seeks help at Bloom
BIRDWATCH Ireland is seeking volunteers to help them spread the word about the conservation of birds and their habitats at Bloom this year.
The Bloom festival takes place at the Phoenix Park from June 1 to 5 and is one of the biggest public events in the country.
Volunteers will be asked to donate a minimum of one day to help Birdwatch Ireland on the education stand outdoors or at their indoor membership stand.
The indoor stand is focussed on answering people’s questions and signing them up as members. Volunteers don’t have be experts – people usually have questions about their garden birds and there are always some BirdWatch staff on hand to answer any difficult questions. Recruiting new members at Bloom just requires a willingness to ask people if they’d like to join.
On the outdoor education stand, there will be pre-prepared activities and volunteers will be asked to help distribute materials and to chat to the children and parents who come to the stand. Again, volunteers don’t need to be bird experts as detailed briefing notes will be provided and a fulltime facilitator and BirdWatch Ireland staff will be on a rota throughout the show.
