Gahan fires Avonmore into final

AVONMORE booked their place in the decider of the Thomas Scott Cup after overcoming Roundwood 1-0 in the semi-final at Pat O’Toole Park on Sunday.

Dean Gahan grabbed the only goal of the game in the first-half and they kept a clean sheet thereafter to clinch their place in the showpiece.

Elsewhere in the Division 2 Cup competition, Arklow Celtic fought back from 2-0 down to shock Rathnew 3-2 at Celtic Park in their quarter-final clash on Thursday.

The Village looked to be in control, with goals from Dean Franey and Jonah Graham putting them in a strong position, but back came Celtic and Mark Wolohan halved the deficit before the interval.

David Moorehouse then netted to get the Arklow side back on levels terms and Paddy Walker grabbed a late winner to complete the comeback.
