Harry in need of home comforts

-

HOME is where the heart is but home is currently causing Harry Kenny some indigestion.

His side has accrued a mere single point from their last two fixtures at the Carlisle Grounds and the Bray boss knows that form is unforgivable for a side that want to compete in the European places.

He was also quick to rubbish any notions that Gary McCabe’s absence could be in any way blamed for Friday’s loss – he is instead pointing the finger of blame at some of his side’s defending.

“We just talked about that inside there. It’s not good enough. If you’ve any aspirations of doing anything in the league, you certainly have to be winning your home games and it didn’t happen tonight.

“It’s definitely too much to pin it on Gary’s absence. We’ve a big squad here and a good squad of players. People need to come in and take their chances when they do get a chance. It wasn’t one of our better performances – particularly in the first half.

“After getting the early goal I thought there was only going to be one winner but two dreadful mistakes (cost us) – Conor (Kenna) losing his man in behind for the first goal, it was just a long

ball, and for the second goal Ryan Brennan gave it away in the middle of the pitch and they go down and get 1-2 just on the button of half time and it gives them something to hang onto and it gives them a lift.”

It was the second time this season that Bray took the lead against the Gypsies only to have no points to show for their efforts come the 90th minute.

He feels his side were shortchanged by the result but they know have the perfect opportunities to show their true colours with last night’s fixture away to Drogheda and Friday’s home clash with Sligo Rovers.

“To be fair to Bohs, they defended reasonably well in the second half. Their ‘keeper pulled off a great save there at the end where we could’ve nearly got a point from the game. I didn’t think they deserved to win the game on the overall play – probably a draw might have been a fair result but in saying that, we didn’t play to our capabilities at all.

“Tuesday is very important for us. We need to bounce back and bounce back well. We need to improve our performances and Mark and Gary will come back into the reckoning for Tuesday so we just need to get back at it and get three points on board.”
