NEWTOWN JUNIORS
We are fast approaching the end of our season and it’s left to a couple of teams to tie up a couple of loose ends. Weather conditions dictated that games organised for the Small sided teams had to be cancelled. Our 13’s hosted league leaders Wicklow Rovers during the week and unfortunately on the evening Rovers just proved too good for our team. This win seals the league for Rovers and we congratulate them on their win. Despite the loss our team despite the absence of a couple of players through illness the team kept plugging away and really the only difference on the night was the finishing. Bobby Dowling scored the Newtown goal late on and was no more than the team deserved.
On the night Shane Dunleavy and Fionn O’Reilly were probably the pick of the Newtown players.
Our 15’s were given the three points from their away game with Arklow Town courtesy of a walkover. What it all means is that our 15’s must win their final game at home to Wolfe Tone next weekend and hope that a result in Enniskerry goes their way.
The following are the fixtures for the weekend of Wednesday 24th - Sunday 28th May 2017: Under 8’s - Fixture to be confirmed; Under 9’s - Fixture to be confirmed; Under 10’s - Fixture to be confirmed; Under 11’s - Fixture to be confirmed; Under 13’s away to Rathnew F.C. ko Wednesday at 7pm; Under 13’s at home to Aughrim Rangers ko Saturday at T.B.C.; Under 15’s at home to Wolfe Tone ko Saturday at T.B.C.

With the season drawing to a close we have set Saturday 1st July as the date for our Presentation Day. We are planning to have a Mini World Cup back up and running after a number of years without one but to do all this we will need a little bit of help. So if you are interested in football and can spare an hour or two every week leading up to finals day on the 1st July to do maybe a bit of refereeing etc it would be greatly appreciated.
Further details for the Mini-World Cup starting dates and events on the day of the Presentation Day will be announced shortly on our Twitter and Facebook pages. We also have all our players out and about with Sponsor Cards (where players can purchase club gear depending on how much money they collect). This is one of our main fundraisers so it would be great if we got loads of support, which to be fair we usually do. We also would like to thank Emma Kearney and Shayne Murphy from Snap Dun Laoghaire who sponsored the printing of our Sponsor Cards for our upcoming fundraiser. We have two players from the club this coming week celebrating a birthday and they are William Valentine from the Under 9’s and Steven Coughlan from the Under 15’s.

Our latest Last Man Standing competition has concluded in Week 9. It was “Girl Power” all the way as the winners are Eva Carey and Katrina Connors despite their selection Southampton losing at home to Stoke City 1-nil. All in the club congratulate both Eva and Katrina on their win. Many thanks to everyone for their continued support.
